The Heart/Brain Connection

with Rev. Patricia Gulino Lansky, LCSW, Co-Minister of Unity Church in Charlottesville.  Music: Doug Schneider and Greg Harris

How do we tap the wisdom and power of our heart energy? We know that the heart loves and feels. But did you know that the heart also thinks, remembers, communicates with other hearts, helps regulate immunity and contains stored information that continually pulses through your body?

Explore new scientific research about cellular memories and their role in the mind/body/spirit connection. New research proves that the human heart, not the brain, holds the secret that ancient sages have taught for thousands of years.

Rev. Patricia has been the co-minister of Unity Church in Charlottesville since October, 2001. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and, prior to ministry, had her own private psychotherapy practice in Miami, Florida for 15 years. Rev. Patricia is an inspiring teacher, workshop presenter and spiritual counselor.

What Happens When We Die: The Meeting Point of Spirituality and Science

with P.M.H. Atwater. Music: Ken Ellis & Shelley Lee Cole

The field of near-death studies has undergone a major shift in the last two years, and along with it, the view of death and how we die has also changed.  Today, it is widely recognized that consciousness continues after death. What was once considered fantasy, hallucinations or paranormal is now accepted as natural and typical to the shift we will all one day make.

Workshop - The Near Death Phenomenon: Beyond the Myth to an Even Greater Light    1:00-3PM

Based on The Big Book of Near-Death Experiences and Coming Back to Life, by PMH Atwater, this workshop takes another look at myths like "the light at the end of the tunnel," and focuses on the exciting news - that the greater light of spirituality, of Deity/God, is central to near-death experiences and to what happens to experiencers afterward. Through the lens near-death states offer, we can cover subjects like heaven and hell, the dead come back, visions, intuition, paranormal manifestations, synchronicity, otherworldly journeys, the pattern of after effects, and more.

P. M. H. Atwater, L.H.D., is one of the original researchers in the field of near-death studies, having begun her work in 1978.  To date, she has published nine books on her findings, from a research base of nearly 4,000 adult and child experiences.  Her latest book is, The Big Book of Near-Death Experiences: The Ultimate Guide to What Happens When We Die. In 2005, PMH was awarded the Outstanding Service Award from the International Association For Near-Death Studies (IANDS), and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Transpersonal Hypnotherapists, as well as an honorary degree in Therapeutic Counseling from a school in Sri Lanka.  Dr. Atwater experienced three near-death experiences in three months in 1977.

Special Class Sunday July 27, 1-3 PM
With Revs. Patricia and Don

The Power for July is Imagination

The Power of Imagination

"The 12 Powers of Man," by Unity's co-founder, Charles Fillmore, is one of the great Unity Classics. Fillmore identified 12 qualities or attributes that are inherent in all human beings as their gift from God. Each attribute has a corresponding energy center in the human physiology, as well as a corresponding color associated with it. By activating these power centers, we spiritualize our bodies to live the full potential of our Christ nature.

Each month in 2008 we will explore one of the 12 powers. There will  be one two hour class each month after Sunday service, from 1 - 3 PM,  for more in-depth exploration and discussions. By attending all 12 classes, participants are eligible for 10 SEE credits toward their Licensed Unity Teacher or Unity Minister pre-requisites.  Books are available in the bookstore. Classes are offered for a love offering.

The July class will discuss the Power of Imagination on Sunday, July 27. Imagination is associated with the disciple Bartholomew, the color light blue, and in the body, the pituitary gland. Imagination--"The faculty of the mind that images and forms; the power to shape and form thought." - Charles Fillmore

Movie: Dalai Lama Renaissance

co-sponsored with the Jefferson Tibetan Society ($10 per person donation)

At the edge of the Millennium, The Dalai Lama of Tibet invited 40 of the West’s leading, most innovative thinkers in their respective fields to his residence tucked away in the Himalayan mountains of Northern India to discuss the world’s problems and how we can solve them. What transpired was unexpected and powerful, and was captured by an 18 person, 5 camera film crew. The Wakan Foundation for the Arts took its 18 person crew to India and shot more than 140 hours of video footage during the week-long meeting and exploration of the future of mankind-- enough gripping and beautiful footage to make a powerful and cinematic documentary. The resulting feature-length documentary, Dalai Lama Renaissance, has already received awards at many prestigious film festivals. The film is 80 minutes long and is narrated by actor Harrison Ford.
