FIVE ELEMENT MEDICINE WHEEL SERIES
The Five Element System comes from ancient China and shares much in common with the Native American Medicine Wheel. It is a kind of map that shows us the unity of our body and mind, of our mind and heart, and of humans with the cosmos. It is also practical wisdom for healing and wholeness.
Join Michael for an evening of stories, poems and teachings that weave together the Taoist Five Element and Native American Traditions. We will also experience many of the alchemical exercises and meditations that I often recommend as they relate to each of the Elements. I will also share herbal remedies and other practical tips. Suggested love offering: $5.
Michael Jabalee has been a Licensed Acupuncturist for 18 years and is in private practice in Charlottesville.

Unity’s Love University Presents
CONSCIOUS LIVING – CONSCIOUS DYING:
Being Prepared for Transition
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14
7PM IN THE UNITY SANCTUARY
With Claire E. Curry, Esq., Jonathan Evans, M.D., M.P.H.,
And Moderated by John Travers, R.N., M.N.
Have you ever thought about what happens to your loved ones and those you around you when you die? This is not a subject that we normally like to look at or discuss. As spiritual truth students, most of us are always searching for ways to improve ourselves and make a difference in the world—right here and now.
But let’s face facts, it seems as if all of us are going to die one day. And the big question is; Are you prepared? You might be prepared spiritually in terms of your consciousness and understanding of death. But, are you prepared for the myriad of details that involve your health-care decisions during your transition time—details that may affect your loved ones, not only during your transition, but after as well?
This presentation brings together some of Charlottesville’s leading experts who specialize in the medical, legal and nursing aspects of end-of-life care. Some of the topics include:
- What is an Advanced Directive, why should I have one, and how do to I create one?
- What is a do not resuscitate order (DNR) and why should I consider one?
- What does a will have to do with how my loved ones are affected after I die?
The experts will make a brief presentation and then will be open for discussion for any questions you might have. Love Offering to UCIC.

UNITY WELCOMES MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER & TRAINER
DOUG KRUG
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
After Church Workshop:
“Creating the Future You Want” 1- 4pm
The distinction between fixing what’s wrong with the way it is, and creating what we want more of is both simple and profound. When something isn’t going well we’ve been conditioned to try to ‘fix it’. That approach is backwards; and, is the primary cause of much of the stress and effort we are experiencing in our lives today – both personally and professionally.
Please join us on Sunday, September 19th, for an introduction to a breakthrough approach that is used today in organizations and homes across America to bring people closer to what they want.
“Simple”, “common sense” and “life changing” are among the most frequent comments over the 20 + plus years of sharing this ‘back-to-the-basics’ approach.
This is not a training, this is a remembering. Through a process described as ‘enter-trainment’ participants are guided to reconnecting with the inner truths that were present in our lives when things were working the way we wanted them to. Personally facilitated by Doug Krug, co-author of Enlightened Leadership, Leadership Made Simple and soon to be released The Missing Piece in Leadership: How to create the future you want.
For the last 15 years Doug has been part of the MBA program at Johns Hopkins University’s Division of Public Safety Leadership. Doug is also part of Executive Development Programs throughout the federal government, including OPM, Veterans Affairs, Center for Disease Control, IRS, Secret Service, FBI, DEA, NASA, the Department of Interior and the Department of Labor. Doug was a keynote speaker for the Unity National Ministers Conference.

NEW FALL BOOK STUDY
LIFE OF PRAYER
Begins Sunday, October 3
UCIC is pleased to announce its 2010 Adventure in Faith Book Study program, based on “The Handbook of Positive Prayer,” by Hypatia Hasbrouck, and “Teach Us to Pray,” by Charles & Cora Fillmore.
Each week, for 7 weeks, during our Sunday morning worship service, we’ll be exploring a myriad of prayer techniques to enhance and deepen your prayer life. Then, immediately after the service, participants may lunch together in our Terrace Level (bring a bag lunch).
Every Sunday from October 3-November 14, participants will meet from 1-3pm in the Terrace Level. The first hour will be with Revs. Patricia and Don. The second hour will be small group discussions with one of four trained group facilitators: Vivian Walthall, Cathy Campbell, Caroline Colvin and Amy Wharton.
Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to learn more about prayer, and to get to know other like-minded people in an in-depth exploration of effective prayer. This can be a life-changing transformational experience.
